Hale: Private Herbert (37976)

Herbert Hale was the second son of Henry and Vera Maria Hale, of Rose Dale, Victoria Street, Cinderford.

He was born in 1899 in Cinderford where he was educated at Double View Secondary School, and attended the local Baptist Church.

He was killed in action, aged 18 years, on 17 April 1918, near Bethune.

He has no known grave and is commemorated on the panels of the Loos Memorial at Dud Corner Cemetery.

He is also remembered on the Cinderford town War Memorial, and on the Great War Memorial in the Cinderford Baptist Church.
